Hear Brenda’s story
My library is our most accessible form of therapy for my child. Without my local library, we wouldn’t be able to provide the variety of content to our child. It doesn’t sound important, but with Autism Spectrum Disorder kids, it is a challenge to shift their focus beyond their very narrow areas of interest.
The Library provides us a free resource to counter this challenge. My local library is a place to connect with other people in the community with kids. My library provides additional resources and learning opportunities for our kids, for example Science Week.
The local library is a “hub” for community engagement, beyond simply borrowing an old fashioned book. A well-resourced and active library is associated with a community that is vibrant and progressive.
